This is the kind of book for which Kindle, it seems, was best suited (as long as all your kindle functions are working). It is inexpensive, and it is searchable, which is perfect if you want to find one particular passage, and its context, from one of Wesley's sermons. I might add that as pre-20th century sermons go, Wesley's are very instructive and useful for modern clerics. His sermons are quite unlike those of his contemporary, Jonathan Edwards, due in part to differences in their theology. Wesley is very much the humanist, while Edwards looks to the heavens and its beauty instead of at human concerns. Wesley even mentions Edwards and George Whitefield who aroused the first Great Awakening in New England. (I think Wesley was not entirely enamored of George Whitefield.)
Seems complete and comprehensive. I wish that there was an introduction to explain its organization. Mine contained a notation at the back that it was printed a couple days after I ordered it... I guess these are printed to order? Strangely, my copy came bound with an upside-down-and-backwards copy of a text on Muslim Unity in the front... I hope someone else isn't missing several pages of the book they ordered!
A bit hard to adjust to at first with the language but otherwise I am learning a lot from John Wesley
This is a great compilation ALL in one volume. The print is fairly small, but I'm super glad to not haul around 3 books, when I can carry ONE! Even though the print is small, there are 2 columns per page making it easier to read.
Very nice for the Methodist church
Small print but good to have especially now with so much going on in the Methodist Church. Takes time and a little effort to read but worth it.
Marvelous book with all Wesleys sermons under one cover. "Sermons on several occasions" containing 44 of Wesley's sermons translated into by modern english by James D Holoway is a must for those who study Methodism.
As I study John Wesley, having the sermons guides my thought process.
